Each session is interactive and our clients are involved in learning about music and playing the instrument that is most suitable for their needs. Goals for sessions are non-musical and include such outcomes as improved fine/gross motor control, improved speech articulation, improved vocal quality and improved ability to concentrate or divide attention.

Wellness Sessions
Therapy for preventative healthcare and to promote individual wellness
These sessions are offered as part of the preventative healthcare and wellness program. Sessions address goals related to stress and anxiety reduction. Our clients learn how to use the tools of music to facilitate focus and concentration, self-relaxation, affect modification and the release of stress and anxiety.
Music offers many ways to relieve the experience of stress and anxiety by providing an expressive outlet that can be used by both musicians and non-musicians. At Austin Music Therapy we guide our clients in vocal and breath awareness techniques, relaxation techniques and musical improvisation methods on a variety of instruments as part of the session.
